I didn't see a D at all. To me it looked like an old building exploded and, miraculously, an attic window survived by being hurled clear of the blast and found itself stuck in a nearby park.
And it just kinda looks like the letter D, now that you mention it!

Hmmm... not sure about the meaning of the sculpture. I'lll have to go back, dig under the leaves and see if I can find a little plaque.

Well, the only thing I was able to discover is that the sculpture commemorates the Art Gallery centennary in 1988. Why its a D is anyone guess.
Anyone got a guess?
